The Grand National is one of the sporting world’s most iconic annual events. First held in 1839, the famous race, and the festival of racing that surrounds it, has grown into a bucket list experience for people all over the world, from sports fans to fashionistas.
In 2024, the Grand National Festival will take place between 11–13 April at its longtime home, Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. As always, the festival will be headlined by the Grand National race itself, as 34 horses and jockeys look to outpace one another and overcome infamous fences like The Chair and Becher’s Brook.

With a reputation as the ultimate test in horse racing, and a prize fund of over £1 million at stake, the Grand National continues to captivate an enormous audience, both in the UK and abroad. When the big race begins on Saturday 13 April, more than 500 million people in over 100 countries are expected to tune in on television.
Of course, there is no better place to be on Grand National weekend than at Aintree, where more than 100,000 racing fans are expected to converge across the course of the weekend. Tickets for the Grand National Festival, and for the day of the Grand National itself, are still available online, with a wide range of options on offer. At present, standard tickets for the Festival Zone, which provide clear views of the Parade Ring and Winners’ Enclosure, begin at £25. For a more premium experience, guests can enjoy the McCoys Package, which includes a welcome drink, 2-course dining, and premier views of the track for £225 on Thursday 11 and £425 on Saturday 13.
Corach Rambler won the 2023 Grand National and joined legends like 3-time winner Red Rum on the race’s exclusive roll of honor. Who will earn a place in history at the 2024 National? Find out, and enjoy the very best of everything horse racing has to offer, when the Grand National Festival heads back to Aintree this April.
