Silicon Valley in California is well-renowned for its contributions to science and technology, Washington D.C. is the capital city and political heart of the USA, and you may associate Cincinnati in Ohio with its eponymous chili dish or its baseball lineage. Across July and August, however, all of these regions go tennis crazy, as they welcome fans of the sport to 3 truly exceptional events, in the run-up to the US Open.
Taking place at San José’s Spartan Tennis Complex, from 31 July to 8 August 2021, the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic is a hard court WTA 500 tournament, and a sometimes underrated part of the women’s tennis calendar. The event will be holding its 50th edition this year, and the return of fans through the turnstiles means it will be an anniversary to remember.
Spectators who travel to San José’s oasis-like environment will not only be rewarded with beautiful, Californian surroundings, but also with a singles draw which includes talented all-American trio Sofia Kenin, Madison Keys, and Sloane Stephens. All 3 will be giving it everything in front of an enthusiastic home crowd, so make sure you’re part of it!
The Citi Open, also known as the Washington Open, is another hard court tournament, taking place 31 July to 8 August 2021 at the Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in north-west DC. Though normally a WTA 250 event as well as ATP 500, this year’s edition will feature only the male draw - but it is still guaranteed to entertain, as players will be looking to hone their hard court game in preparation for the US Open at the end of August! As if the promise of world-class tennis wasn’t enough, the Citi Open is this year offering an extended range of dining options, courtesy of award-winning chefs and well-known vendors.
Both the Silicon Valley Classic and Citi Open offer Series Packages – tickets on the main show court which encompass all tournament sessions. As well as granting you access to action day and night, these tickets apply across a range of seating areas, so whichever tournament you choose to attend, you can be sure to find a ticket that’s right for you!
The Western & Southern Open is another excellent tournament, and includes both men’s and women’s draws, at ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 levels respectively. This year’s edition is taking place 14-22 August 2021, at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
Confirmation of a full capacity crowd at the Western & Southern Open means there’ll be a fantastic range of viewing options there, too. Series Packages are also on offer and, again, stretch across a range of seating areas, on Center Court.
In spite of its multiple draws, the Western & Southern Open nonetheless manages to harness the feeling of a smaller tournament and has therefore flourished as a fan-favourite since its establishment all the way back in 1899! Age hasn’t hampered evolution, however: formerly known as the Cincinnati Masters, the tournament has progressed consistently, providing a spectator experience which is sure to make 2021’s edition an unmissable event. Though the players for the 2021 tournament are yet to be announced, there will no doubt be a high-quality field given the event’s position as a competitive warm-up for the US Open .
As well as the Series Packages, the Western & Southern Open is offering Single Session tickets in the Pavilion seating area, and a range of 3 or 4-session tickets, called Mini-Plan Packages, within the Terrace seating area. These are both highly accessible options for fans, and for the casual spectator they offer an affordable way of seeing top-tier tennis, without requiring the commitment or investment of a full week option. Regardless of where you sit, just be sure to grab a ticket for a fantastic US Open Series tennis event this summer!
