Stuttgart in Germany is famous for its automotive industry, but it is also a city with great sporting pedigree, having hosted, among other things, FIFA World Cup fixtures. The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix and the MercedesCup, the city’s foremost tennis events, are also part of this athletic history, and simultaneously refer to 2 of the world’s biggest car manufacturers. It is no surprise then that these tennis events are highlights of Stuttgart’s sporting calendar, and that they both manage to attract an all-star cast of players every year!
The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix is the oldest women’s indoor tennis tournament in Europe, and is part of the WTA 500 tour level; in 2022 it will take place between 16-24 April at the Porsche-Arena. The MercedesCup will take place a couple of months later, from 4-12 June 2022, and is a men’s event, on the ATP 250 tour. It is hosted at Tennis Club Weissenhof. The prestige that both of these events enjoy is reflected in the lists of former champions: the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix boasts Tracy Austin, Martina Navratilova, Martina Hingis, Ashleigh Barty, and German favourite Angelique Kerber among its past winners, whilst the MercedesCup’s hall of fame includes Björn Borg, Ivan Lendl, Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer! Although the 2022 draws are yet to be announced, both tournaments are sure to keep their standards just as high next year!
As well as the world-leading singles and doubles players making their way to Stuttgart in April and June, plenty of fans will be in attendance too, soaking up all that the Porsche-Arena and Tennis Club Weissenhof have to offer!
Tickets for the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix start are sold in 2 viewing categories, and adult tickets start at €15 (£12.70) in Category 1 for an entire day’s play. As well as daily tickets, you can also pick up week-long and final weekend tickets, allowing you to enjoy multiple tournament days in the same reserved seat! Week-long “Season Tickets” start from €350 (£296.32) in Category 2 seating, and final weekend “Cayman Finals Packages” from €120 (£101.60), also in Category 2.
There are also plenty of ticketing discounts on offer at the event: children, students, and wheelchair users (and their carers) are entitled to half-price daily tickets, and there are also multi-ticket promotions on offer, with different deals on different days to suit groups of friends, families, or just huge tennis fans!

At Tennis Club Weissenhof there is also a host of tickets available, ranging from up-close-and-personal Business Seats, to atmospheric and affordable Category 3 tickets. Daily prices start from €45 (£38.10) for an adult, final weekend tickets from €140 (£118.53), and week-long season tickets from €480 (£406.38), all in Category 3 seating. If you’re after a discount then you’re in luck too - children aged 8 and under can attend the MercedesCup for free, and older children, students, and disabled spectators are eligible for ticket concessions. As if that wasn’t enough, Sunday 5 and Monday 6 June are “Kids’ Days”, during which children can sit in Categories 1, 2, or 3 for just €10 (£8.47); there is also a “Ladies’ Day” on Tuesday 7 June, when women can get a 20% discount on tickets!
With so many great deals on tickets and high-class fields of players sure to be in attendance, Stuttgart is one of the places to be next year for casual fans and tennis fanatics alike, so grab a ticket and say “auf wiedersehen” to boredom!
