The Ryder Cup is the biennial men’s golf tournament that pits the United States against Europe in a thrilling team competition. It pits the 2 teams of 12 players against one another over 3 days of competition Friday-Sunday, in this case from 24 to 26 September. There are a total of 28 matches, each played over 18 holes: 8 foursomes matches, 8 four-balls matches, and 12 singles matches. The winner of each match scores 1 point for their team, with half a point awarded to each team for a tie. The team with the highest number of total points on Sunday claims the Ryder Cup trophy and bragging rights for the next 2 years.
With its team camaraderie, historical rivalry, and passionate atmosphere, the Ryder Cup is golf at its most dramatic and intense, so whether you’re a long-time fan or new to the sport there’s something for everyone.
This edition is the 43rd Ryder Cup, which will see Team USA host Team Europe at Whistling Straits in Sheboygan, Wisconsin as they seek to avenge their 2018 defeat to the Europeans at Le Golf National in Paris.
The US team is comprised of the top 6 American players on the Ryder Cup points list, plus a further 6 chosen by team captain Steve Stricker, while the European team is made up of 9 qualified players and 3 captain’s picks. Naturally, many of the world’s best players will be on show. Indeed, between the 2 teams, the players have collectively won 20 majors.

Hovland and Wiesberger will be the first players to represent Norway and Austria in the Ryder Cup, respectively, while Lowry will also be making his Ryder Cup debut for Team Europe. Team Europe have dominated the competition in recent years; since 1995, they’ve won it on 9 occasions while the United States have come out on top just 3 times. However, all 3 of those victories have come when the tournament has been hosted on US soil, including the last time it was held there in 2016, so it should be a phenomenal contest in Wisconsin.
