The course, part of the public Bethpage State Park on Long Island, New York, will be familiar to golf fans having hosted the US Opens in 2002 and 2009 and more recently the US PGA Championship in 2019, as well as The Barclays (now the FedEx St. Jude Championship) event on the PGA Tour in 2012 and 2016. From 23-28 September 2025, Bethpage Black will join an exclusive list of courses to have hosted the Ryder Cup.
For almost 100 years, the Ryder Cup has been bringing together some of the world’s best golfers for a biennial showdown between the United States and their rivals from across the Atlantic. First held between the USA and Great Britain, the Ryder Cup was first held in 1927. It was briefly expanded to include Ireland between 1973 and 1977, and since 1979 it has expanded continent-wide as the United States vs Europe.
Europe has dominated the competition since the turn of the century, winning 8 of the 11 Ryder Cups held in that time. They’re also the reigning champions, having won 16.5-11.5 at Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome in 2023. However, the last 5 Ryder Cups have all been won by the hosting team – and convincingly, at that – so the United States have good reason to feel confident with the competition back on home soil. Indeed, their 19-9 victory at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin in 2021 was the most commanding since 1967.
Typically an individual sport, the moments when golf comes together for a team competition – with the incredible passion and unrivalled drama on show – are extra special, and they’re why events such as the Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup, and Solheim Cup are so beloved by fans.
Tickets for the 2025 Ryder Cup start at USD $235, while official travel packages start at $1,825 per person for a single night’s accommodation.
