Nicknamed “The Habs” - an abbreviation for the early farmers of Quebec, “Les Habitants” - Montreal Canadiens are the oldest and the most successful team in the history of the National Hockey League (NHL) having been champions 24 times. Despite not winning the Stanley Cup since 1992-93, they reached the Stanley Cup Finals in 2021 but were beaten by Tampa Bay Lightning. The Habs have seen more wins and more shots since head coach Dominique Ducharme was fired and Martin St. Louis took over in February 2022, and they’ll hope to carry on this form.

They will also play Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets, New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Washington Capitals from the other Eastern Conference division, the Metropolitan Division.
Due to their unrivalled history and success, Montreal Canadiens have many rivals, especially with the other “Original 6” teams. Their oldest rivalry is with the Toronto Maple Leafs. They have 3 scheduled meet-ups in the 2022-23 season:
- Toronto Maple Leafs v Montreal Canadiens · 18 Feb 2023
- Toronto Maple Leafs v Montreal Canadiens · 8 Apr 2023

2022-23 Playoffs and Finals
Montreal Canadiens have reached the NHL playoffs 85 times in their history. They have won the Stanley Cup 24 times, more than any other team.
The 2023 playoffs will begin after the regular season has finished in mid-April. Of the 32 regular season teams, 16 qualify with 8 from each conference (the top 3 teams from each division plus 2 conference teams with the next highest points). There are 4 rounds of best-of-7 series: first round with 16 teams in 8 x best-of-7 series; second round with 8 teams in 4 x best-of-7 series; Conference Finals with 4 teams in 2 x best-of-7 series; and the Stanley Cup Finals with 2 teams in 1 x best-of-7 series to determine who lifts the Stanley Cup.
2022-23 Tickets & Prices
Montreal Canadiens play their home games at Centre Bell in Montreal, Canada. The arena has a capacity of just over 21,000 for hockey games and is notorious for consistently having full attendance. Adult ticket prices including fees start from as low as CAD $18 for basic tickets to $35,252 for the most premium tickets. The average adult ticket starts at $73.
Standard Tickets
Centre Bell has standard seating tickets on 3 main tiers:
- Lower Level (Section 100) – ideal for sports lovers, seats are as close to the ice as you can get with uninterrupted views of the hockey. These tickets are typically the most expensive standard ticket option
- Middle Level (Section 300) – enjoy an elevated view of the action on the ice. Tickets tend to be cheaper than Lower Level tickets but slightly more expensive than Upper Level tickets
- Upper Level (Section 400) – although this level is the furthest from the ice, it offers incredible views from almost roof level. These tickets are typically the most affordable in the arena
Premium, Hospitality & VIP Tickets
- Club Desjardins Level (Section 200) – as well as some of the best views, tickets for this level include all concession food and non-alcoholic drinks
- Level 3 Suites & Level 5 Suites – a luxury experience for an exclusive and private gameday. Suites can be for 12-40 people and bespoke packages can be added offering perks such as parking passes, an open bar, and much more
How to Get Cheap Tickets
Montreal Canadiens ticket prices are dynamic and similar ticket types can vary depending on who they are playing, the day of the week (weekends are usually more expensive), and the stage of the league. Prices for the same game also change over time and between sellers. Sometimes there are last-minute bargains to be found for less in-demand games but waiting can also risk prices going up or tickets selling out as is common at Centre Bell. Koobit compares prices from primary and secondary sellers to help you find the right tickets for you at the best price.
Where to Buy Tickets
You can purchase Montreal Canadiens tickets online or at the arena box office. Buying online is generally more reliable and convenient allowing you to easily compare options and prices and have the assurance of a guaranteed seat.
