The former will be played as usual on the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, from 10 – 13 March, while the latter – held as always at Wentworth Golf Club in Virginia Water in Surrey – will take place from 8 – 11 September.
Considered by many as golf’s unofficial “5th major,” the Players Championship is one of the PGA Tour’s biggest and most prestigious events. The tournament already boasted the largest prize purse in all of golf, and that will increase further still in 2022 with an incredible USD $20 million on the line. The winner will take home $3.6 million as well as 80 Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points; only the majors yield more.
Unsurprisingly, much like the majors this tournament consistently features the best of the best and it has been won by many of golf’s biggest names since its inception in 1974. The reigning champion is 2017 PGA Championship winner and former world no. 1 Justin Thomas, who will be hoping to make history by becoming the first player to successfully defend his title here.

General admission tickets (the Stadium Pass) will go on general sale on Wednesday, 1 December. They are in a pre-sale period until 23:59 on Monday, 29 November, accessible at early-bird prices with the code “BESTFANSINGOLF”. Prices range from $26.63 for the practice days on Tuesday and Wednesday up to $90.53 for Friday and Saturday. Children aged 15 and under are admitted free with a ticketed adult, and there is also a wide range of hospitality options available for those looking to upgrade their experience further.
Meanwhile, the BMW PGA Championship is one of the newly-revamped DP World Tour’s top competitions – the biggest men’s golf event held in the UK each year after The Open. Held at the headquarters of the PGA European Tour, it is the Tour’s home tournament and as part of the Rolex Series of events it offers a more lucrative prize purse than many of its DP World Tour counterparts at $8 million.
In 2021, Billy Horschel became the first American to win the tournament. He won by a single stroke ahead of a 3-man chasing pack of Laurie Canter, Jamie Donaldson, and Kiradech Aphibarnrat.
General admission Grounds tickets are available now, as are tickets to the 18th hole Grandstand. Adult tickets range from GBP £13 to £50 per day or £135 for a full-week pass. Children aged 12 and under are eligible for free tickets, while those between 13 and 17 qualify for discounted Junior tickets. Premium experiences will also go on sale soon, so be sure to save this event to your interests to be notified when they do.
