Spooky season is upon us, but some college football teams have been scaring opposition players and fans since the year’s first kick off.
Tennessee Volunteers
The Vols just keep winning. Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud looked a lock for the Heisman Trophy a few weeks ago, but Hendon Hooker’s stunning performance in Tennessee’s recent victory over Alabama has reopened the conversation. Hooker threw 5 touchdowns in the upset win, keeping his team unbeaten and soaring to the top of the CBS QB power rankings in the process.
It’s looking likely that the Vols’ next game against the Georgia Bulldogs will decide the SEC East. A tricky matchup for the teams, but a certain treat for football fans. Tickets are still available for this heavyweight contest.
Georgia Bulldogs
The Bulldogs are the reigning national champions, and they have picked up where they left off in the championship game by winning their first 8 games of the new season. This is an indisputably great team, bolstered by one of the strongest defences in the country. The Bulldogs will want to secure the SEC East and their playoff place as early as possible, but their remaining schedule could give fans a fright.
After the Dawgs face Tennessee, they are set to play Mississippi State, Kentucky, and Georgia Tech. All these games are winnable, but the Wildcats in particular could pose a threat to Georgia’s formidable record. Tickets are still on sale for the game at Kroger Field.
Ohio State Buckeyes
Whether C.J. Stroud ends up with the Heisman or not, he has been a fundamental part of an incredibly strong Ohio State offense this season. The Buckeyes did not have a particularly easy schedule, but solid wins over Penn State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Iowa have showcased the team’s power and skills since the first week.
The toughest game remaining for Ohio State is undoubtedly The Game, the annual contest between the Buckeyes and the Michigan Wolverines. While Ohio State might be the slight favourite, it’s an extremely tight call, and Michigan have enjoyed a spectacular start to the season themselves. You can still buy tickets for this clash of the titans, but the prices might get scarier the longer you wait.
Clemson Tigers
The Tigers are 8-0 this season, and it’s very possible that Dabo Swinney’s team will end the regular season undefeated. Despite some recent issues for quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, Clemson have brushed aside Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Florida State, and Syracuse, and the players will be confident going into the final few games.
The end of the season will certainly pose a more difficult test, with games coming up for the Tigers against Notre Dame, Miami, and South Carolina. If Uiagalelei and backup Cade Klubnik can keep the offense moving, Clemson fans can dream big. Tickets for the Notre Dame matchup are selling fast.
