This is a great event. The only small snags involved parking. The first day the names of the lots were changed from am to pm. The bus took a different route and let us off in a different spot from morning so we weren’t sure where we were or if car was there. Another day the signs were marked wrong and took us to valet parking where we waiting 40” only to find it was the wrong lot. The app was a bit slow to work, but overall it was a great experience.
The Charleston Open is a fantastic event. The quality of the tennis goes without saying, and the organization and effort made it a truly exceptional experience. The valet parking worked flawlessly, the event staff were friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, and always looking to help, and the variety of food added to our enjoyment.
The only problem we had was with the digital ticketing. I downloaded the Credit One app, but linking to my TicketMaster account was problematic. When that was finally accomplished and the tickets appeared, the Add to Google Wallet function just would not work. Then, a couple of days before we were scheduled to get on the plane to Charleston, our tickets and valet parking passes simply disappeared altogether. Working with the ticket office, the problem could not be resolved, and the solution was printed tickets waiting for us at the box office when we arrived. Thank you, Nicole! You went above and beyond to take care of this for us.
Facility is awesome! Not a bad seat in the house. Parking was close by & free & free shuttle provided. Would def go to CHS Open again.
.Maria Sakkari questioned line calls so many times playing Astra Sharma. Not once did the latter do that. Speaks volumes about each.
I went for the WTA 500 week. It was a great experience. I originally purchased advance stadium tickets for the first round and quarter finals but to be honest there is no need as you can easily buy tickets at the venue for any of the rounds.
We sat in the west side seats which had the sun to one side during the day and then behind during the afternoon which seemed better than the east side which had sun in the faces of the spectators all day. All seating was free seating, so sit where you like. We tried various seats, high, low and to the sides and all provide a really good view of the court.
The Irish village is where the tournament is held and courts 1,2&3 are a minute walk from the main stadium. These courts are free to watch, so you could watch tennis all day for nothing or just pay to enter the stadium. The Irish village has loads of eateries and a large pub so plenty of choice when you are there.
It was a great experience
Minus: Unpleasant, sometimes even disrespectful behavior of some members of the security, the Czech flag was missing (perhaps not visible) on the Grandstand, insufficient assortment offered by sellers of sports goods, t-shirts (only small sizes) and advertising and souvenir items.
Plus: Pleasant environment in the area, plenty of opportunities to refresh and relax.
A great event, super atmosphere, excellent staff all around. Will be back again!
Amazing organisation nothing missed...even small details is perfect....thanks a lot.
Don't follow the seating advice of the ushers. I was sent to the incorrect seats twice with my 84 year old mother after which I called for the head usher to resolve the issue. My ten cents worth: the various sections should be labelled ie. have Prime A indicated as such on the wall above the area. It's no fun reaching the bottom of a stand (which I was instructed to sit in) with my 84 year old mother and to be advised when we reach the bottom that we're in the incorrect section and have to go up again.
Superb experience This is the only tournament where you have chances to interact with players in that long walking gallery
This time the none of the top 3 participated in men's draw
But the WTP was full of top athletes thanks
Minden tökéletes!
THE ACTUAL EVENT WAS GREAT, HOWEVER THERE WAS ONE LARGE DRAWBACK THIS YEAR FOR US. THE SEATING AND SPACE ALLOWED FOR PEOPLE AND THEIR NEEDS WAS EXYTREMELY POOR THIS TIME. THE SEATS WERE OLD AND NOT COMFORTABLE AND IT APPEARS THE ALLOCATION OF SEATS WAS TO MUCH FOR THE SPACE PEOPLE NEEDED. LAST YEAR (SAME LOCATION) THE SEATING / SPACE WERE MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE.
1. Seats are extremely uncomfortable in the north and south stands. Most people were forced to stand up between games to give their behinds a break from the hard chairs. My sister and I brought seat cushion with us after the first day’s experience, and that helped somewhat.
2. During the first part of the week, the PA system was appalling. It was impossible to hear the winners’ courtside interviews after the matches, or any announcements. The music that was played in the breaks was so distorted that it was very unpleasant. This was somewhat rectified by the end of the week, but it should have been fixed before the end of the first day.
3. Ticketmaster is a terrible app to book tickets on. Every session has to be booked and paid for as a separate booking. There was no way to book several sessions and pay for them altogether.
4. The tennis was fantastic! Loved all the matches we saw.
Great experience
Adelaide International - Semi Finals Day was a great day for the tennis - we attended the day session court side and the evening in the South Stand but in both areas the seating is a little uncomfortable and the catering needs some improvement.
I sat in the disabled section. Good view, space to put walking stick & aids. Easy access within venue eg small distance between lift and seating.
On my arrival, the attendent had no idea where to locate me. She suggested I go to the Western end of the North stand where there were fixed seats! I pointed out that the seats would have to be moved to fit in a wheel chair! She really did not want to be helpful. I politely stayed until It was sorted. All was well in the end.
We are from Scotland and have come to Australia to visit both Adelaide and Australian open. I have been to Wimbledon a number of times but Adelaide is so much better. It is friendlier and you get much closer to the play. W
We had our photo taken a number of times from players. We stayed at Eos city and had photo taken with Korda and Musetti as they returned to their hotel . Brilliant experience
We were relieved to be able to have our driver drop us out the front. There was a delay processing our digital tickets as the machine broke down, we were told a technical issue. Thing is there was no backup machine and everyone waited for 15 minutes in hot afternoon sun. As one lady pointed out they force you to buy digital tickets there are no other options so they need to make it effective and efficient. The Southern stand afternoon sun was scorching, no shade, and noticed other sections where sun was beaming in as it was setting. Alot of comments from spectators about this, being hot, and everyone sweating. The Southern stand female toilet was one toilet only and while the assistant suggested we use other female toilets it was either upstairs to the northern end or to the eastern side, more of a walk for spectators with bad knees or walking issues or older. My mum just sat in the southern stand the whole 2 games as she couldn't do all the stairs and walking and waiting for the one toilet available that was close but long line up. The food tasty but rather expensive. We only drank water provided which was easily accessible. The overall experience and facilities provided was not comfortable for us. Next year we will watch on TV. The tennis and players were great of course. Disappointed. There needs to be improvements for spectators comfort and convenience.
Great event which attracted many big names in tennis. Getting to the event and entry in to the stadium was easy and straight forward.
