The Women's PGA Championship is the 3rd of 5 women's golf majors on the LPGA calendar. The championship's inaugural edition was contested at the Orchard Ridge Country Club, Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1955. Since then, it has been played at a different elite course in the United States, typically in late June each year.
As a major, it is one of the sport's most prestigious events, attracting the world's best players to put on a thrilling showcase of top-class golf.
In 2005, Michelle Wie made history at this event; she was allowed to compete as an amateur at the age of just 15, ultimately finishing 2nd only to the legendary Annika Sorenstam.
