There are 5 women’s major golf championships on the LPGA Tour calendar. Simply referred to as the women’s majors, these are the Chevron Championship, the US Women’s Open, the Women’s PGA Championship, the Evian Championship, and The Women’s Open Championship.
As organised women’s professional golf is newer and less established than the men’s system, the list of majors has varied over the years with 8 different competitions holding the status at one time or another. Nevertheless, since the LPGA Tour finalised the current list of 5 major championships, women’s golf has grown in prestige and popularity.
With the world’s best female golfers competing on the highest possible stage, you are guaranteed to witness world-class golf.
💯 Women's Majors Format & Scoring
All 5 of the women’s majors are played in the stroke play format over 4 rounds, with 18 holes to be played each day by a large field of players that is cut down after the first 2 days. Players tee off in a staggered order; after the first round scores are set, the order of play begins with the player with the highest number of strokes and ends with the player with the lowest. The winner is the player with the lowest number of strokes across all rounds.
Each major is organised by a different governing body; the LPGA (Chevron Championship), PGA of America (Women's PGA Championship), United States Golf Association (US Women's Open), Ladies European Tour (Evian Championship), and The R&A (The Women's Open).
