Verein für Bewegungsspiele Stuttgart 1893 e. V. - more commonly known as VfB Stuttgart or simply Stuttgart - is a German professional football club based in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg and currently playing in the country's top tier Bundesliga. The club plays home games at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
Founded in 1893 as Stuttgarter Fußballverein (FV Stuttgart), the club was originally a rugby team before a football section was established in 1908. From the mid-1960s onwards, the club began to see more success and has spent most of its history in the Bundesliga or the second tier despite going through a difficult time in the 1970s. Stuttgart have been Bundesliga champions on several occasions, most recently in 2006/07, and have also won the DFB-Pokal multiple times.
