Valencia Club de Fútbol - often shortened to Valencia CF or Valencia - is a professional Spanish football club based in Valencia and currently playing in the country's elite tier La Liga. Valencia plays its home games at Mestalla Stadium.
Founded in early 1919, the club only really started finding success in the 1940s after the Spanish Civil War, and won its first La Liga title in 1941-42, following this up with another championship title in 1943-44 and then again in 1946-47. After claiming another in the 1970s, the club's most recent La Liga titles were in 2001-02 and 2003-04. Valencia have also found success in the Copa del Rey, the UEFA Cup, and many other competitions.
