📜 Utah Mammoth History
On 18 April 2024, a deal was made that effectively split the Arizona Coyotes franchise in half. The NHL Board of Governors awarded an expansion team to Salt Lake City, owned by Jazz owner Ryan Smith. Instead of an expansion draft, Smith acquired the Coyotes' hockey assets - including players, coaching staff, and draft picks - as the team suspended its hockey operations. The new franchise is set to debut in the 2024-25 season under the name Utah Hockey Club. In May 2025, the team was named Utah Mammoth following a fan vote.
