East Hartford also has its fair share of parks and museums.

West Hartford offers a beautiful balance between the bustle of Downtown Hartford and the relaxed atmosphere of East Hartford. While much of the city is leafy and residential, head Downtown to Blue Back Square, the commercial centre, for shopping, dining, and nightlife that’s on par with Downtown Hartford itself.

While Downtown Hartford is very walkable, it’s necessary to take a bus to travel between Hartford and neighbouring cities West and East Hartford.

Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field is an outdoor stadium located in East Hartford, Connecticut. The stadium is the home ground of the University of Connecticut (UConn) Huskies college football team.

📜 History

The stadium opened in 2003 under the name Rentschler Field. This was the name of the Pratt & Whitney company airfield that previously occupied the site, before it was decommissioned as an airport and donated to the state of Connecticut in 1999.

In 2015, Pratt & Whitney donated additional land for use in gameday parking. In exchange, UConn agreed to rename the venue Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field.

As well as hosting all UConn Huskies home football games, the stadium has been used for numerous club and international soccer matches. Pratt & Whitney Stadium has also hosted NCAA men's lacrosse, rugby union matches, Whalers Hockey Fest, and many music concerts.
