The Open Championship is the 4th of the 4 majors in men’s professional golf. The inaugural Open was held in 1860, making it the oldest tournament in golf. As such, The Open is regarded as one of the sport’s most prestigious competitions, attracting the world's best players each year for an incredible spectacle of world-class golf.
The Open is under the authority of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews (R&A) and is hosted by a different R&A location across the UK each year. It is usually held the day before the third Friday of July each year.
The Open’s 154th edition will see it return to Royal Birkdale Golf Club.
