Stade Toulousain, also known simply as Toulouse, is a French rugby union club based in the city of Toulouse, which competes in the Top 14. The team's home stadium is the Stade Ernest-Wallon, and the team's home colours are red and black; the team is colloquially known as "Les Rouge et Noir" ("The Red and Blacks").
Stade Toulousain was founded in 1907, the result of a merger between 2 teams both comprised of students from the city. The club won its first French championship in 1912, having gone the season undefeated. The club would win its second championship 10 years later, ushering in an incredibly successful decade: the team defended its title in 1923 and 1924, completing a hat-trick of titles, and was also crowned champions in 1926 and 1927.
In the mid-20th century, success was harder to come by for Stade Toulousain, with only one title - won in 1947 - in almost 60 years. In the 1980's the club's fortunes changed, and it would win the championship in 1985, 1986, and 1989, before a period of dominance in the 1990's which would see Toulouse win 4 titles in-a-row (1994-1997), and another in 1999. The club would also claim the Bouclier de Brennus in 2001, 2008, 2011, 2012, and 2019, becoming one of the best sides in modern-day French rugby in the process.
Stade Toulousain has also proven itself to be a very strong club in European competition in recent years, winning the Champions Cup in 1996, 2003, 2005, 2010, and 2021, and reaching the final on 2 further occasions.
