Visiting Barcelona
Barcelona, the proud capital of Catalonia, is a spirited, cultured, and progressive city on the sun-drenched northeastern coast of Spain. Expression through art and design has long been of great value to its residents, leading it to become one of the most creative cities in the country. One such resident is Antonio Gaudi, a surrealist 19th century architect who designed many of its must-see landmarks including the dimension-altering Sagrada Familia, Casa Batllo, and Park Guell using curves, nature, and colour as his inspiration. Wandering through the bohemian Gothic Quarter, you’ll be further inspired by the creative independent shops, galleries and bars. The Barcelona coast, meanwhile, introduces a much more cosmopolitan side to the city with palm-tree-lined boulevards, waterfront shopping and dining, and of course, long stretches of fine sandy shores.
