Sheffield United Football Club, also known as the Blades, are a professional football club based in Sheffield, England. They play their home games at Bramall Lane.
📜 Sheffield United History
Sheffield United were formed in 1889 by members of the cricket club of the same name. The club were nicknamed the Cutlers due to the city's history of cutlery production; they would later adopt the Blades nickname, which had been previously used by their bitter rivals Sheffield Wednesday before they adopted the Owls moniker.
The club were highly successful in their early history; they were crowned English champions in 1898, just 9 years after they were formed, and also finished 2nd in 1897 and 1900. They also racked up FA Cup wins in 1899, 1902, 1915, and 1925, but they have not won a major honour since then.
In more recent years, they have enjoyed spells in the Premier League but also spent time in English football's 3rd tier.
