Seattle Storm, also known simply as the Storm, are a professional women's basketball team based in Seattle, Washington. The Storm are among the most successful teams in Women's National Basketball Association history, playing in its Western Conference. Their home venue is the Climate Pledge Arena.
Seattle Storm History
The Storm were founded in 2000, filling the void left behind by the American Basketball League's Seattle Reign, who folded in 1998.
Although the Storm endured an inauspicious start to life in the WNBA β they ended their first season with a 6-26 record and did not reach the playoffs in their second campaign either β the arrival of Sue Bird in 2002 had a transformative impact on the team.
The Storm earned their first WNBA Championship victory in 2004 β with Anne Donovan making history as the first female head coach to win it β and they've claimed multiple titles in the decades since, as well as lifting the inaugural WNBA Commissioner's Cup in 2021.
