The Scottish women's rugby union team had only been playing test matches for a year when, in 1994, they hosted the Women's Rugby World Cup at incredibly short notice. Despite their relative inexperience, the Scots finished fifth on home soil, and went on to compete at successive World Cups.
At the Women's Six Nations - formerly the Five Nations, or Home Nations - Scotland also have some pedigree, having won the Grand Slam in 1998, and finished runners-up on multiple occasions.
