The Samoan rugby union team, or, as it is otherwise known “Manu Samoa”, has been playing test rugby since 1924. That inaugural test was played against Fiji, on a pitch with a tree growing on the halfway line!
More recently, Manu Samoa has reached the quarterfinals of 2 World Cups – 1991 and 1995 – and has previously climbed to number 7 in the World Rugby rankings.
Watch out for the Samoans’ pre-match Siva Tau, an intimidatory challenge to the opposition in the style of a traditional battle cry.
