Rotherham United are a professional football club who play in the EFL Championship. Nicknamed the Millers, they ply their trade at New York Stadium.
📜 Rotherham United History
The club was founded in 1925, but its history began almost 50 years prior. It was first established in 1877 as Thornhill FC, who later became Thornhill United and then in 1905 they became Rotherham County. When they merged with neighbouring Rotherham Town 20 years later, the Millers were born.
Rotherham were immediately inducted into the Football League and have never dropped out of it since, but they have also never made it to the English top flight.
They have won the EFL Trophy in 1996 and in 2022. The 1960-61 season saw them make a run to the inaugural League Cup final, but they were beaten 3-2 by Aston Villa over 2 legs, having taken a 2-0 lead in the opener.
