Phoenix Mercury, also known simply as the Mercury, are a professional women's basketball team based in Phoenix, Arizona. The Mercury compete in the Western Conference of the Women's National Basketball Association and they play their home games at the Footprint Center, which they share with their NBA counterparts, the Phoenix Suns.
Phoenix Mercury History
The Mercury were founded in 1997 as 1 of the league's 8 original members.
They reached the WNBA Finals in the league's second season, but they were defeated by the now-defunct Houston Comets, who romped to the first 4 championships.
A successful period in the late 2000s saw them win WNBA Championships in 2007 and 2009, and they followed that up with a third win in 2014 to cement their place among the league's most successful teams.
