Peterborough United are a professional football club based in Peterborough, England. Also known as the Posh, Peterborough play their home games at London Road, which is currently known as the Weston Homes Stadium for sponsorship reasons.

The Posh were founded in 1934 to fill the gap left by Peterborough & Fletton United, a team that had existed between 1901 and 1932.
On the back of winning the Midland League 5 seasons running between 1956 and 1960, Peterborough were elected to the Football League. They won the Fourth Division title in their first season, earning instant promotion to the third tier.
Peterborough reached the second tier of English football for the first time in 1992 after back-to-back promotions, a feat they repeated in 2009.
In 2014, the Posh won their first notable honour, the EFL Trophy.
