Riverside is located 1 mile outside Chester le Street, 4 miles from Durham and 10 miles from Newcastle upon Tyne, so travelling by car to the venue is a good option. Usually, there are additional parking arrangements made for large-crowd events. Be sure to check Durham Cricket’s official website for more information 2-3 weeks prior to the event you are attending.
The management of Riverside kindly asks you not to park in the residential areas around the venue.
The Riverside Cricket Ground bus stop is the closest bus stop to the venue, located just 300 m (4 min) away. Chester-le-Street bus routes 71, 807, 808, 809, 810, and 811 all stop here.
Chester-le-Street train station is located 1.6 km (20 min walk) away from Riverside. On large-crowd match days, trains stop more frequently at Chester-le-Street.
Please note that East Coast services from Edinburgh and London stop at Durham Railway Station instead of Chester-le-Street. There is a regular shuttle bus service to and from Riverside available at Durham Railway Station.
There is a traffic-free cycle route from Chester-le-Street to Riverside. However, cycling to the venue on a busy match day is not recommended, as the number of secure cycle racks may be limited.
If you are approaching the Riverside form Chester-le-Street Market Place, or the Railway Station, consider taking a 20-minute walk to the venue.
