Auckland isn’t the easiest city to get around, and public transport around the city centre can be a little slow. For this reason, many visitors prefer to stay in the central business district (CBD), where many of the main attractions of the city are within walking distance. Accommodation options in this area are broad, from cheap but clean backpacker hostels, to luxury hotels at SkyCity. Nightlife, restaurants, shops, and museums all abound in this area.

The Viaduct area of the city has been redeveloped to make it an upmarket waterfront location. With ocean views and great waterfront nightlife this is a great choice for travellers. Still only around 10 minutes walk from the CBD and many of the main attractions but offering a less bustling feel to the area. Options in this area tend to be priced higher.

If you want somewhere a little quieter and more picturesque, consider the Mount Eden region. With older more historical buildings and famous craters, this area has a quiet but trendy café and bar culture. A short drive from the centre of the city, with some public transport connections to the main areas too.

If travelling with kids or family, you can’t go wrong with the Mission Bay area. Situated on the east coast, you will find a sandy beach, parks, and a variety of restaurants and bars located on the waterfront. A popular area to stay in – make sure you book early.

About Pulman Arena

Pulman Arena is a multipurpose indoor sports arena in Auckland, New Zealand.

Opened in 2017 in the Bruce Pulman Park sports and recreation complex, the arena includes 6 netball courts, 1 international netball court, 6 basketball courts, 6 Turbo Touch courts, 3 futsal training courts, 12 volleyball courts, a 350m running track, and a fitness gym. There are also medical rooms, offices, meeting rooms, and conference rooms on site.

A number of local community sports leagues use the arena on a regular basis, and it is also open for public recreational use. The Northern Stars netball team of the ANZ Premiership play their home games at Pulman Arena, and the venue has also hosted basketball and volleyball events.
