Auckland isn’t the easiest city to get around, and public transport around the city centre can be a little slow. For this reason, many visitors prefer to stay in the central business district (CBD), where many of the main attractions of the city are within walking distance. Accommodation options in this area are broad, from cheap but clean backpacker hostels, to luxury hotels at SkyCity. Nightlife, restaurants, shops, and museums all abound in this area.
A wide range of food, including traditional game day fare such as burgers, hot dogs, and chips, is available at Eden Park.
Spectators can also bring their own food and drink, but they must adhere to Eden Park’s conditions of entry:
There are 6 sets of turnstiles, located in each corner of the park. As the north-west corner is near the train station and local pubs, it gets quite busy before and after matches. Similarly, the north-east corner is used by those who arrive by bus or on foot, from the city, and the south-east entrance is used by those who travel by buses and trains from further afield. Spectators who wish to arrive via a less busy entrance may therefore prefer to use the south-west corner of the stadium.
Permanent toilet facilities are located throughout the venue.
Auckland has an extensive cycleway network, which means you can get almost anywhere in the city via bicycle. Eden Park is located very near (400 metres west of) the Dominion Road bicycle route. Once you arrive at the venue, you can find bicycle racks at Gates B, D, and G.
Eden Park is about 50 minutes (4 km) away from Auckland city centre and therefore it may not be suitable to walk to your event, unless you are staying nearer to the venue.
