The Midshipmen are the football team of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. They compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision of the NCAA and play in the American Athletic Conference.
Navy claims 1 national title from 1926 and 3 division titles. From the team's founding in 1879 until 2014, the Midshipmen competed as an independent team, without being a member of any conference. Since the 2015 season, however, Navy has been a member of the American Athletic Conference.
The annual rivalry game between Navy and Army is one of the most enduring rivalries in college football. Each year, the Army, Navy, and Air Force teams compete for the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy.
The Midshipmen play their home games at Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
