Millwall Football Club are a professional football club based in south east London, England. Their nickname is the Lions, and their home ground is the Den. Millwall fans are known for their fearsome reputation, prompting their famous chant of "No one likes us, we don't care."
📜 Millwall History
Millwall were formed in 1885 as Millwall Rovers and later Millwall Athletic. They were founding members of the Southern League in 1894, later joining the Football League in 1920.
The club grew in popularity, and by 1939 they were 11th in terms of league attendances in England despite playing in the Second Division at the time, and in 1945 they played Chelsea at Wembley Stadium in front of a crowd of 90,000 – including King George VI – in the Football League War Cup final.
However, World War II had a significant impact on the club; the Den sustained heavy damage caused by bombing and fire, and the loss of so many people during the war – particularly young men – meant crowd numbers were much lower for some time.
The Lions won their first major honour in 1983 with victory in the League Cup. They reached their first FA Cup final in 2004, but they were defeated 3-0 by Manchester United.
