📜 Memphis Showboats History
The history of the Michigan Panthers goes back to the early 1980s, when the team was established as a founding member of the United States Football League (USFL). The Panthers played their inaugural season in 1983 and made an immediate impact by winning the first-ever USFL Championship. The Panthers' success, however, was short-lived; the USFL experienced instability, leading to an eventual merger of the Michigan Panthers with the Oakland Invaders in 1985. Soon after, the USFL itself ceased operations at the end of the 1985 season.
Decades later, the USFL was revived, and with it a new version of the Michigan Panthers emerged in 2022. After 2 seasons – in 2024 – the USFL merged with the XFL to become the UFL and the Panthers joined as a founding member.
