Mansfield Town are a professional football club based in Mansfield, England. They play their home games at Field Mill, also known as the One Call Stadium.
📜 Mansfield Town History
The club was founded in 1897. They were known at the time as Mansfield Wesleyans, taking their name from the local church. They became Mansfield Wesley after separating from the church in 1906, and 4 years later they settled on the Town suffix in a move which upset their local rivals, Mansfield Mechanics.
Town joined the Football League in 1931, and in 1950-51 they became the first EFL side to spend an entire 23-game home campaign unbeaten.
They spent the rest of the century bouncing between the third and fourth tiers, although in 1987 they did lift the EFL Trophy. In 2011 they were runners up in the FA Trophy final, which they reached during a 5-year stint outside the Football League after their 77-year stay came to an end in 2008.
