📜 Manchester United Women History
Manchester United Women formed in 2018, although the club had had a women's team in the past. After the Football Association's 50-year ban on women's football ended in 1971, a team known as United Ladies of Manchester was formed and they made use of the men's team's training ground.
In 1977, Manchester United Supporters Club Ladies became the Red Devils' unofficial women's team; they were eventually permitted to use the name Manchester United Ladies and in 2001 they officially partnered with the men's team, however they were disbanded in 2005 following the Glazers' takeover of the club.
They were resurrected as Manchester United Women in 2018, and they won promotion to the Women's Super League in their first season. In 2023 they reached the FA Cup final for the first time, but they were defeated 1-0 by Chelsea.
