📜 Leicester City History
Founded in 1884 as Leicester Fosse, the club ceased trading in 1919 and reformed as Leicester City. The Foxes have operated in the top 2 tiers of English football for much of their history, but until recently had only enjoyed modest success when it came to trophies.
In the 2015-16 season – having only just avoided relegation the previous campaign and having played in the 3rd tier just 7 years prior – Leicester stunned the sporting world by winning their first Premier League title at 5,000-1 odds in arguably the greatest upset in all of sporting history.
The Foxes built on that success by establishing themselves as a regular contender for European football places for several years and lifting their first FA Cup in 2021.
Known for their exhilarating counter-attacking play, Leicester have been one of the most enjoyable teams to watch in English football in recent years.
