Like many road cyclists, Alaphilippe began his career in the discipline of cyclo-cross and even finished second in the 2010 Junior World Cyclo-Cross Championships. Alaphilippe's road career began in 2012 and during that season, he finished eleventh overall in the Tour de Bretagne and second overall in the Coupe des nations Ville Saguenay (winning a stage in the latter). Alaphilippe joined Etixx-IHNed, the development team of UCI WorldTeam Omega Pharma-Quick-Step before moving into Omega Pharma-Quick-Step in 2014 where he has been an established name ever since.
