Sala Bianca is an elegant event room within the Ridotto of Teatro Sociale di Como, in the historic centre of Como, Lombardy. Located at Via Bellini 1, close to Piazza Verdi, the cathedral and Lake Como, it is used for ceremonies, receptions, banquets, conferences, corporate meetings, concerts, talks, photographic shoots and promotional video productions.
The room is distinguished by Empire-style furnishings, ornate stucco vaulting, chandeliers, gilded floral decoration and frescoes with idyllic and Greco-Roman subjects. Teatro Sociale itself was inaugurated in 1813. The principal room of its Ridotto was remodelled in 1904–05 by Ludovico Pogliaghi and Federico Frigerio; Frigerio had its walls repainted white, giving rise to the name Sala Bianca. The room was restored in 1975 and remains one of the theatre’s principal historic hospitality and meeting spaces.
