The Houston Gamblers are a professional American football team based in Houston, Texas. The Roughnecks play in the UFL and their home venue is Shell Energy Stadium.
📜 Houston Gamblers History
The original Roughnecks team was founded in 2018, and the Roughnecks participated in the first XFL games in 2020 when the league was led by Vince McMahon. After the XFL was bought by Dwayne Johnson's Alpha Acquico, the Roughnecks were confirmed as a returning team for the 2023 season onwards.
In 2024, the XFL merged with the USFL to become the UFL and the original Roughnecks team was disbanded and their name was transferred to the USFL's Houston Gamblers, who move forward as the Houston Roughnecks and a founding member of the UFL. In 2026, the team returned to their original name of Houston Gamblers.
