Heart of Midlothian FC, often known simply as Hearts, are a professional football club based in the Scottish capital of Edinburgh. They play their home games at Tynecastle Park. Outside of Celtic and Rangers, they are among the most successful teams in Scotland and one of a small handful to have won the league title more than once.
📜 Hearts History
Hearts were formally founded in 1874 when the club, formed by friends from the Heart of Midlothian Quadrille Assembly Club, adopted association football rules, although they had begun playing "local rules football" – a mix of association football and rugby – the previous year.
Their name comes from the historic county of Midlothian, which dates back to the Middle Ages.
Hearts enjoyed a great deal of early success, including back-to-back league titles in 1895 and 1896 and 4 Scottish Cups by 1906. A further period of success would follow in the late 1950s and early 1960s under manager Tommy Walker as they added another Scottish Cup, 2 further league championships, and 4 Scottish League Cups in a remarkable 8-year span.
In 2021, Hearts became the largest fan-owned club in the United Kingdom after the club's shares were transferred to the Foundation of Hearts supporter group.
