That’s what happens when GREED is the only thing pushing this tour.. No invitation for the Men’s Olympic Team so Simone can get more money to herself..
Really disappointing. We were so excited to go since the tour was announced. If you’ve not yet purchased tickets I’d save your time and money.
The show was mostly dance, very easy skills like split leaps and hardly any tricks. I liked the relaxed approach and girls having fun but a lot of it was just sloppy on the bars especially.
Somehow this show turned in to interviews, mental health awareness, and therapy. That is okay but I didn’t think this would be the time and place for such. I was hoping for a fun and upbeat show with the girls showing off tumbling, bars and beam.
Also, It was hard to see the lighting was so bad you could hardly tell who was who when they did perform.
I am disappointed and would not spend my money on this again. The only reason I did not give one star was because I give 2 stars because I know some kids enjoyed it.
While my daughter enjoyed the show, the darkness overshadowed it all. I am ok with the message and all of the routines but we couldn’t see the gymnasts at all. The lighting was horrible!
This event had very limited gymnastics. The majority of the night was dancing and performance art.. I was very confused as to why these amazing gymnasts who have dedicated their life to the sport, were not allowed to shine and do what they do best. I am sure the gymnasts are frustrated as well. The one gymnast who did a full beam routine was amazing. The crowd went nuts. Inexplicably, she was not introduced before her performance, and her name is not placed on the screen. So I have no idea who she was! Just a strange evening
My take on the Boise show...such a disappointment. I agree with all the reviews. Very loud, tons of dancing and one big therapy session for Ms. Biles. I absolutely hope and pray she can heal from the traumatic experiences that plague her, but this didn't seem like the appropriate outlet. The audience is comprised of so many young, impressionable girls and the theme should of catered to that.
I'm so, so sad to agree with the last two comments. I Googled reviews for this show after getting home tonight to see if maybe I just didn't understand what show I was buying tickets to and was the only one who felt this way. I wish I would have seen the two reviews below and saved myself $200 and a disappointed little girl. Speaking of which, I'm a bit frustrated that more professional reviews are not being honest about the reality of what a let down this show is.
I adore Simone and the other gymnasts and respect them all, but this show made them all look far worse than they actually are. It felt more like watching gymnasts trying to recreate High School Musical than actually doing what they are amazing at and what we were all so excited to see...gymnastics. I respect the effort to try and communicate and advocate the importance of mental health to young gymnasts but it came across as more of a teen-age melodrama told through interpretive dance and scrap-booking than a professional gymnasts being the role models they are.
The music was uncomfortably loud even for my daughter, you had to scream in the person's ear next to you for even a chance to be heard. My ears are still ringing.
In total Simone spent a grand total of about 2 min actually talking/interacting live with the audience during the whole show, any other speaking parts of hers were pre-recorded. The hosting was left to another gymnast, she was great, but it felt very strange and off for a tour that has her as the star and headliner. It felt like we spent more time watching Simone walk slowly from one side of the stage to the next than actual gymnastics. When we did get small snippets of focused gymnastics, they were mostly run-of-the-mill skills and were over just as quickly as they began. There wasn't even an actual floor routine in the whole show, just cheerleader like dancing. Also, no vault, which is what my daughter was looking forward to seeing Simone do the most.
The whole show was disappointing and underwhelming. It felt like visiting an art exhibit of a painter you greatly admire for their skill and life-time of dedication and instead walking into a dance party with finger paintings they did the night before hanging on the wall. Overall, PLEASE save yourself the money and go watch a collegiate gymnastics competition instead, it will be far more entertaining.
Agree with the other 1-star review. I saw the show in San Francisco but don’t see a place online to review that show. Anyway, my experience was exactly the same as the other reviewer here. We had free tickets and I still felt outraged. It was the worst live performance I’ve ever seen in my life. Pathetic money-grab.
Hello, I am so very sorry and actually heartbroken to tell you all ….. this show was a disaster! I am completely supportive of mental health transparency and mental health support in sports . What happened to Simone Biles in Tokyo was painful to watch. I was so proud of her for believing in herself and for protecting herself from probable physical injury that may have changed her life forever. I applauded her . However , that aside , I did not pay $500 plus for center seats to watch a pity party. And that is what it was. It is so sad to tell you how disappointed I was in last nights show. So disappointed that we left at intermission. The show was extremely dark. The music so loud that there was static. They used the current political environment surrounding Simone Biles , who suffered under the charge of Dr Nassar, for many years , who sexually abused these children , now women. I absolutely support these women . I pray Dr . Nassar will rot in jail for all time for what he has most probably done to these beautiful girls….. but …. This was supposed to be a night of joy ,fun, and entertainment…. And it was far from that! The show continued in dark lighting the entire time. There were gymnasts on all of the apparatuses at the same time , in the dark with blaring music and spot lights going around and around the room . It was actually disorienting , and difficult to observe. You didn’t know who was who and who was where at any one time . A absolute disaster!.. I was shocked .As were many others around me. Not happy campers. The gymnasts themselves seemed as though they were just having a big ol party. They were disheveled and sloppy in their performances. There was zero structure to the venue. It was like watching a talent show of the jr high cheerleaders. As though we had all happened fo come in to watch practice on a really off day. The geography if there was any at all was to say the least …. Awful and poorly thought out and poorly executed. Clearly no one from the SAP CENTER previewed this show , or at least I hope they didn’t condone this bad excuse for a “big show” it was pathetic. I come from a position of experience. I was a highly regarded gymnast in the Bay Area who was supposed to got to the Olympic trials in 1980. While I understand that was a long time ago, I believe I would have made made the team , if Regan hadn’t boycotted the summer Olympics that year. That being said , this performance gave you the feeling from the gymnasts gave a “ I don’t care , talk to the hand “ type of sloppy , SLOPPY , performance. I was so disappointed . This past week for some of these women , was extremely stressful, because of their testifying against Dr Nassar…… but they should have canceled this show. Cancellation would have been sympathetically received and supported . Instead they gave a half hearted show. Waste of money and time. I feel that I have been take advantage of . Sadly.. don’t bother you won’t be able to see a thing.
