📜 Grigor Dimitrov History
Dimitrov began playing tennis regularly at the age of 5, and soon embarked on a stellar junior career, which saw him pick up consecutive boys singles titles at the 2008 Wimbledon and US Open Grand Slams. Dimitrov then turned professional in 2008, at the age of 16, and recorded his first ATP-level main draw win at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament, the year after.
In 2011, Dimitrov entered the ATP singles top-100 for the first time, and by 2012 he was in the top-50. He had to wait for his maiden singles title, however: this came at the Stockholm Open in 2013, and marked the first time a Bulgarian tennis player had won a singles title in the open era. Dimitrov has since reached 3 grand slam semifinals, as well as the year-end ATP Finals, in 2017.
Noted for his athleticism, flexibility, and unusual yet stylish technique, Dimitrov is an unpredictable yet relatively consistent performer. Dimitrov's backhand is one of his key weapons, but he can be dangerous from anywhere on the court. The Bulgarian is also not shy of playing low-percentage trick shots, and has been known to employ returns from between his legs, as well as diving for balls just out of his reach.
