Germany boast one of football's most enduringly successful national teams. Having lifted the FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championship on multiple occasions apiece – doing so for the first time while competing as West Germany in 1954 and 1972, respectively – few teams can rival Germany's trophy cabinet for major international honours. What's more, they're renowned for their frightening consistency in both competitions; they've only failed to reach at least the semi-finals on just a handful of occasions over the years. As such, they've rightfully earned the fearsome reputation as an absolute powerhouse of international football.
