The England rugby union team is the national men's rugby union side for England, one of the 4 "home nations" which comprise the United Kingdom and Ireland. The team typically plays in a white kit embroidered with a red rose, and hosts home fixtures at Twickenham Stadium in London - sometimes referred to as "the home of English rugby".
📜 England Rugby Union Team History
The England national rugby team’s history extends back to 1871, the year of rugby's very first international test. England's historic opponents that day were Scotland, who hosted the fixture in Edinburgh. Scotland scored 2 tries and a goal to England's single try.
Despite beginning its history as a losing side, however, England' national rugby union team has gone on to become one of the most successful in the history of the sport. England's 29 outright wins in the Six Nations Championships (and its antecedent tournaments) make the team the most decorated in the competition, and the nation is to date the sole winners of the Rugby World Cup to hail from the Northern Hemisphere, winning the competition in 2003, in Australia. England also consistently ranks within the top-5 of World Rugby's international rankings.
