Odense Centrum, the city centre, is the ideal locale for those who want all of its highlights right at their feet. Although it’s slightly pricier than most other areas, it benefits from having an abundance of shops, restaurants, and bars, as well as museums and other cultural attractions.
Families might be swayed to stay beyond the south bank of the Odense River, which is a little quieter than the north bank but still considered part of the city centre. Alternatively, they might prefer the quieter, less urbanised neighbourhood of Odense M, which also has its fair share of shops, restaurants, and points of interest.
If the city life isn’t for you, trade it for the medieval coastal village of Kerteminde. Although the lively city is just 20 minutes away, it feels like a world away when you are by the sea.

A free bus system throughout Odense allows you to explore the city centre easily, but for those yearning for greater adventure, it’s best to hire a car.
