📜 Crawley Town History
Although they were officially founded in 1896, the Red Devils had played friendly matches as far back as 1890, known then simply as Crawley FC. The club briefly disbanded in 1935, before being reformed 3 years later.
Despite reaching the Conference League – at the time their highest position in the English football pyramid – in 2004, the 2000s were a low point for the club due to significant financial difficulties.
However, Town managed to survive, and with new investment powering them forward they gained back-to-back promotions, reaching the Football League for the first time in 2011 and then moving up to League One the following year. The 2010-11 campaign also saw them embark on a famous run to the 5th round of the FA Cup, which only ended with a narrow 1-0 defeat by Manchester United at Old Trafford.
