Attended the athletics on 7-8 -22 (am) after paying £125 per ticket , we were on the back straight , was most disapointed with our view as couldn't see start or finishes of races as big screens not good enough . If you are going to charge big prices for seats @ least check out the views & improve the big screens . That said organisation on the day was outstanding !!!
We attended the closing ceremony of the commonwealth games 2022 tonight. Our tickets cost £125 each and we were allocated seats in block 223, facing the Royal Box.
All we got to see was the backs of all the acts that performed, unless we watched the screens around the arena.
And when the athletes came out we thought great, we will see them as they pass by around the arena.
How disorganised was that, the athletes came out and did they do a lap of honour around the arena, NO NO NO.
Absolutely appalling.
Even though there was a great atmosphere around the arena, we were very let down by the organisation of the event as a whole.
Got Match Court tickets (general admission), and was a tiny bit worried about how that would work, but it couldn't have been easier: the ushers were helpful and my fellow spectators were accommodating when you needed to sit down/get up. Despite sitting in 2 or 3 different places throughout the session, I never had a bad view, and sometimes got to watch 2 or even 3 matches simultaneously! The speed of the play is amazing to watch up-close, and the athletes give everything during every single point.
Multiple scoreboards were visible around the hall, and the officials were easy to hear wherever you were sat - it was really easy to feel involved, as well as entertained.
Applied for Weightlifting tickets on a whim, having never really watched the sport before, but was genuinely blown-away by what an amazing time I had. The hall was bouncing from the very beginning, and the athletes themselves (we saw Women's +87kg) were so likeable and interacted with the crowd so readily!
It was amazing to see the weightlifters pushing themselves to the limit - when they stepped onto the stage you could hear a pin drop, but the hall erupted in celebration after every successful lift.
Emily Campbell of England got the best reception - and produced a flawless gold medal performance! As a bonus, Kelly Holmes was in the hall getting the crowd going. Great day, really well organised, and incredibly entertaining - would go again in a heartbeat.
Had a fantastic time watching the artistic gymnastics! We saw men's vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar, and women's floor and balance beam. It was easy to get into the venue, and the Birmingham 2022 volunteers were incredibly friendly and helpful, and then the atmosphere inside the arena was brilliant. Sadly, food and drink was pricey - even for a sports event - but you were allowed to take homemade food in with you, so this wasn't a huge issue. Overall, the gymnastics was amazing, and we even got to see Brummie Joe Fraser get a gold!
Badminton excellent
Logistics truly awful!
Could not leave the Badminton venue and re enter.
Either "stay in. Or leave and don't come back"
Whereas the basketball yesterday gave out wrist bands for people wishing to leave and re enter
Truly awful logistics and planning
Just back from first day of Commonwealth Games athletics. Although we paid £50 each for our seats the view of the events from block 126 was very poor.Everything seemed to be happening on the other side of the arena. Even the large screens had light fittings blocking part of the view! Info screens for the field events were also difficult to see and very confusing when TWO groups were competing in the same event e.g. long jump. Also as several events took place at the same time it was not possible to show every thing we could not see on the large screens.
On the whole we would have been better saving our money and watching it on TV.
This is a great shame as we have attended many events at the Alexander in the past and always enjoyed them. This unfortunately was poorly planned from a spectators point of view made worse because we were allocated seats and so had no chance to obtain the view we would have liked.
Accessible Parking inaccessible stadium
The Badminton itself was excellent - AUS v PAK teams very close and exciting.
The venue @NEC was a massive fail. Pointless marshalling sending everyone on a 5,000 step detour around the entire site, crowd control for 100,000 mis-applied to 10,000. No access to station, or toilets, without going round in circles. Everyone confused, tired and angry for logistics fail spoiled the sport.
Transport was fantastic, parked at car park by Pool View, loads of space we pre booked. Bus there and back excellent no queuing.
Atmosphere was great, good selection of food and drink. Volunteers and Police all great, well done Birmingham!
Wow, well done Brum. Proud to be a Brummie. Didn’t expect that, thoughly enjoyed the ceremony. I’m so proud of you all , the town & the Bull.
Saw the Commonwealth Games time trial when it was in Glasgow - was so much fun with a great atmosphere in the streets!
