Chicago Fire are a football team who play in Major League Soccer's Eastern Conference.
History
The club was named after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 and was founded in 1997 on the 126th anniversary of its namesake.
Chicago began playing the following year and won the double of the MLS Cup and US Open Cup in their first season, silverware they added to on several occasions in the following decade.
The club shares its home, Soldier Field, with the Chicago Bears NFL team. Fire returned to the venue – where they spent most of their early years – in 2020, having played at SeatGeek Stadium between 2006 and 2019.
