📜 Casper Ruud History
He was born in the Norwegian capital Oslo, in 1998. Ruud's father, Christian, was also a professional tennis player, and has coached Casper for much of his career.
Ruud worked his way up the Futures rankings as a teenager, and, after turning professional in 2015, has gone on to win several ATP singles titles. Between the beginning of 2019 and the end of 2021, Ruud climbed from outside the top-100 of the ATP singles rankings, to inside the top-10. In 2022, the Norwegian reached 2 Grand Slam semifinals: he lost the Roland-Garros final to Rafael Nadal, and the US Open final to Carlos Alcaraz. Despite the losses, Ruud had an exceptionally strong year overall, and cemented his place as a top-10 player and Grand Slam contender; he ended 2022 ranked 3rd in the world.
A clay court specialist, Ruud has won the vast majority of his titles on the surface. His game is characterised by a strong forehand, and a clever use of spin.
