Although an Australian national side was active since 1899, "The Wallabies" only truly came into existence in 1908, when the team toured Britain and rejected the native press' nickname for them - the "rabbits". Since then, the Wallabies, in their iconic gold shirts, have continued to make a name for themselves. Today, they are one of rugby union's most successful and historic test sides, and boast some of the best players on the planet.
Australia has won the Rugby World Cup twice, in 1991 and 1999, and have also been losing finalists on 2 occasions. They have also won the Rugby Championship - played between the 3 or 4 major Southern Hemisphere sides - on 4 occasions.
