GIO Stadium (Canberra Stadium)

On-site car parking is available at the GIO Stadium on match days, in the East and West Car Parks:

• West Car Park, accessed from Battye Street via Haydon Drive - 200 m (2 min) walk
• East Car Park, accessed from Agar Street via Ginninderra Drive - 750 m (9 min) walk

Parking can be paid for on the day, at a rate of AUD $10 a day. On ACT Brumbies and Canberra Raiders match days, fans with valid match tickets who arrive at least 45 minutes before kick-off can benefit from a reduced price of AUD $5.

Additional free parking spaces are located on the roads surrounding the stadium, but these can fill-up quickly; drivers using these spaces should take notice of local signage and respect any private premises or businesses. On particularly well-attended match days, free overflow parking spaces are made available at the University of Canberra, off College Street. Shuttle buses operate to and from the overflow car park on these days; alternatively it is a 1.8 km (22 min) walk.

Drivers are encouraged to allow extra time for their journeys and arrive early if possible, as match day traffic can be very dense. Please note that match day traffic restrictions which prioritise the safety of pedestrians may mean that it takes longer than expected to exit the stadium premises in a car.

From central Canberra it takes between 10 and 20 minutes to travel to the GIO Stadium by car. Taxis, rideshares, and private vehicles can drop-off and pick-up along designated stretches of Leverrier Street, as well as next to the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Arena, an approximately 300 m (4 min) walk from the west side of the stadium. Cars are not permitted to drop-off and pick-up on the east side of the stadium. 

Spectators in possession of valid match tickets can travel for free on public bus routes, as well as on specially-chartered match day bus services.

Match day buses

Free match day bus services typically start approximately 2 hours prior to kick-off, though exact times depend on a stop's proximity to the stadium. The following routes are usually in operation on match days, with all routes stopping outside the GIO Stadium:

• Routes 1 & 2 - Gungahlin Bus Interchange (Platform 3)
• Routes 3 & 4 - Belconnen Cohen Street, Belconnen Westfield, and Belconnen Central Bus Station
• Routes 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, & 13 - Tuggeranong Bus Interchange (Platform 9), Woden Bus Interchange (Platform 1), City Bus Interchange 101 (London Circuit, Stop 3002)
• Route 14 - Queanbeyan Bus Interchange (Platform 1), City Bus Interchange 101 (London Circuit, Stop 3002)

After matches, the above bus services then depart the GIO Stadium regularly, from approximately 20 minutes after the final whistle.

Public bus routes

The following public bus routes also stop close to the stadium:

• 901 (Bruce Shuttle) - Vowles Cresent opposite CIT Solutions bus stops · 650 m (8 min) walk
• 9 - Braybrooke Street before/after Battye Street bus stops · 700 m (8 min) walk
• 2, 3, & 4- CIT Bruce, Haydon Drive bus stop · 1.4 km (17 min) walk
• 50 - Miller Street after Scrivener Street/Nardoo Cresent bus stops · 2.2 km (26 min) walk

All aforementioned public bus routes operate 7 days a week, with the exception of the 901 which operates on weekdays only. Bus routes 2, 3, 4, and 9 run from early morning until evening (early evening on Sundays), whilst route number 50 operates from morning until late evening on weekdays, with a reduced service on weekends.

Private hire or chartered coach

Private coaches and minibuses can park in the stadium's East Car Park.
