Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka will be hoping to defend their titles at Melbourne Park when this iconic tournament returns in the new year, and both will be aiming to build on what has been an exceptional 2024 that has seen the pair each win both the Australian and US Opens.
Sinner inflicted Novak Djokovic’s first defeat at the Australian Open since 2018 when he dispatched the Serb in 4 sets, before coming from 2 sets down to beat Daniil Medvedev in an epic 5-set final. The Italian has since won further titles in Rotterdam, Miami, Halle, and Cincinnati, as well as defeating Taylor Fritz in the final at Flushing Meadows to add another Grand Slam to his burgeoning collection.

As for Sabalenka, she is the 2-time reigning Australian Open champion having also emerged victorious in 2023. In yet another parallel with Sinner, the Belarusian – who claimed her 50th tour-level win of the year when she beat Katerina Siniakova in straight sets at the China Open on Wednesday – also won the title in Cincinnati this year.
The pair will be the ones to beat in Melbourne come January, although Djokovic will be particularly determined to extend his record of Australian Open singles titles to 11 after failing to win a single Grand Slam in 2024, his first calendar year without a major win since 2017. The 37-year-old may not have many more appearances at the tournament left in him, so he’ll be eager to add more wins to his considerable collection.
Grounds passes for the 2025 tournament start at AUD $49 (USD $33/GBP £25) for adults, while reserved seating tickets begin at $69 ($46/£35).
